Different Address on Donation vs Person
This article explains how MoveData handles the scenario where address information on a Raisely donation record differs from the address information on a Raisely person record.
How MoveData Handles Address Conflicts#
In Raisely, address information can exist in two places:
- The person record -- the donor's stored profile, which persists across donations.
- The donation record -- the address provided at the time of a specific donation.
When these two addresses differ, MoveData cannot determine which address is more accurate. By default, MoveData uses the address from the person record, not the address on the donation record.
When This Matters#
Address conflicts commonly occur when:
- A donor updates their address in Raisely between donations, but historical donations still carry the old address.
- A donor provides a different billing address for a specific donation (for example, a work address).
- Address information was entered incorrectly on one record but corrected on the other.
How to Correct Address Data#
If you encounter this scenario and need the donation's address to be reflected in Salesforce, follow these steps:
Step 1: Update the Person Profile in Raisely#
- Open the person record in Raisely.
- Modify the address information to the desired value.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Re-save the Donation in Raisely#
- Open the donation record in Raisely.
- Click Edit, then click Save without making other changes.
This causes Raisely to issue a new notification for the donation. MoveData processes the updated address from the person record and updates the Contact record in Salesforce.
Integration Setting: Address Priority#
You can control which address MoveData uses through the Use Notification over Profile for Addresses integration setting:
| Setting Value | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Prioritise User Profile Data (default) | MoveData uses the address from the donor's Raisely profile. |
| Prioritise Notification Data | MoveData uses the address from the donation notification. |
To change this setting, open your Raisely integration in the MoveData app and update the setting on the integration detail page.
