MoveData is a Salesforce AppExchange managed package that automatically syncs data from your fundraising platforms into Salesforce. It eliminates manual data entry so your team can focus on what matters most: your mission. MoveData is purpose-built for nonprofits and works with both NPSP and Nonprofit Cloud.

What MoveData handles#

MoveData processes a wide range of fundraising and supporter data, including:

  • Donations — one-time gifts, recurring donations, pledges, matched gifts, and tributes
  • Campaigns — fundraising campaigns, peer-to-peer pages, team fundraising, and appeals
  • Recurring giving — subscription management, payment updates, and instalment tracking
  • Commerce and events — ticket sales, merchandise purchases, event registrations, and product orders
  • Supporter data — contact details, profile updates, and preference changes
  • Soft credits — third-party and organisational gift attribution

How data gets into Salesforce#

MoveData supports several integration methods to suit different fundraising platforms:

  • Real-time (API and webhooks) — platforms like Raisely, Grassrootz, and GiveEasy push data to MoveData instantly as transactions occur. Your Salesforce data stays up to date in real time.
  • Scheduled polling — platforms like JustGiving provide data through APIs that MoveData checks for new data at regular intervals (for example, every 12 hours).
  • File upload (CSV and Excel) — platforms like Benevity and Charitable Giving provide data as downloadable files. You upload these files to MoveData, which processes them into Salesforce in bulk.

How this knowledge base is structured#

Role tabs#

At the top of the site, you will see three tabs: Users, Admins, and Developers. These control which content is visible in the sidebar:

  • Users — shows content relevant to day-to-day users who monitor data flow, check notifications, and manage integrations.
  • Admins — shows everything in Users, plus content for Salesforce administrators who configure business rules, duplicate management, and troubleshoot errors.
  • Developers — shows everything, including technical reference documentation for extensions, schemas, flows, and pipeline architecture.

Select the tab that matches your role. Your selection is remembered across sessions.

The left sidebar organises the knowledge base into the following sections:

  • Getting Started — installation, the setup wizard, quickstart guide, and onboarding. Start here if you are new.
  • Integrations — setup guides and troubleshooting for every supported fundraising platform (Raisely, JustGiving, Grassrootz, Benevity, and more).
  • Using MoveData — day-to-day operations: understanding notifications, viewing execution logs, managing settings, and how your data is processed.
  • Customising MoveData — business rules, field mapping, duplicate management, campaign configuration, and advanced settings for tailoring MoveData to your organisation.
  • Troubleshooting — error message guides, common Salesforce errors, NPSP and Nonprofit Cloud specific issues, and connection problems.
  • Administration — architecture, pipelines, extensions, setup and configuration, and upgrade guides for technical administrators.
  • Reference — detailed technical documentation for extension flows, schemas, and commands. This is lookup material, not learning material.
  • Release Notes — version history for the MoveData package and each extension.
  • Account, Legal & Security — billing, payment options, legal documentation, and security compliance.
