A failed donation is a transaction that the source platform reports as unsuccessful — for example a declined card or a cancelled payment. MoveData lets you decide whether these transactions are written to Salesforce, using the Ignore Failed Donations setting under the Fundraising section of your MoveData Settings.

Note

The default behaviour depends on your extension and configuration. Check the current value of the Ignore Failed Donations setting before changing it. See Managing MoveData settings.

When to change this setting#

  • Skip failed donations when you only want successful transactions in Salesforce and treat declines as noise.
  • Create failed donations when you want a complete record of every transaction — including failures — for reconciliation or reporting.

How to change the setting#

The location of the Ignore Failed Donations setting depends on your extension.

NPSP (Fundraising & Donations)#

  1. Open the MoveData App and go to Settings.
  2. Open the Fundraising & Donations extension.
  3. Go to the Donations section.
  4. Toggle the Ignore Failed Donations option to your preferred behaviour.

Nonprofit Cloud (NPC)#

  1. Open the MoveData App and go to Settings.
  2. Open the Fundraising extension.
  3. Go to the Donations (Gift Transaction) section.
  4. Toggle the Ignore Failed Donations option to your preferred behaviour.

After updating the setting, reprocess the affected notification so the new behaviour is applied. See How to reprocess failed notifications.
